Marlins optioned LHP Cade Gibson to Triple-A Jacksonville; Reassigned RHP Tyler Zuber to minor league camp.
Gibson’s demotion comes as a bit of a surprise, as the 27-year-old southpaw posted a strong 3.38 ERA over 34 2/3 innings out of the team’s bullpen during the 2025 campaign. His demotion opens a spot in the team’s Opening Day bullpen for Andrew Nardi to make his triumphant return after missing the entire 2025 season.

Marlins recalled LHP Kade Gibson from Triple-A Jacksonville.
Gibson returns to the big leagues with Anthony Bender landing on the injured list with a stress reaction in his right leg. The 27-year-old lefty has compiled an encouraging 3.38 ERA across 34 2/3 innings (27 appearances, one start) this season at the highest level.

Marlins optioned LHP Cade Gibson to Triple-A Jacksonville.
The 27-year-old southpaw has done a nice job for the Marlins this season, posting a 3.38 ERA, 1.30 WHIP and a 26/11 K/BB ratio over 34 2/3 innings in 27 appearances. He has struggled of late though — giving up runs in each of his last three outings including Thursday’s matchup against the Braves. Expect him to reset at the Triple-A level for a week or two before rejoining the Marlins’ bullpen.

Cade Gibson will serve as an opener for the Marlins on Saturday afternoon against the Nationals.
The 27-year-old southpaw has been filthy for the Marlins this season, registering a minuscule 0.93 ERA, 1.09 WHIP and a 12/5 K/BB ratio over 19 1/3 innings in his first 12 appearances. He hasn’t thrown more than 21 pitches in an outing since mid-May, so don’t expect him to work very deeply into Saturday’s game. More than likely he’s just there to get through the tough left-handed bats at the top of the Nationals’ lineup the first time through. Anticipate Janson Junk to follow him in a bulk role on Saturday.

Cade Gibson earned his first major league victory by pitching scoreless ninth and 10th innings against the Rays on Saturday.
Gibson has a 1.06 ERA through 17 innings, even though he’s struck out only nine batters. He actually had 23 strikeouts over 17 innings in Triple-A this year. A strong groundball pitcher, he doesn’t necessarily need to be a big strikeout guy to be effective. Still, he’s probably not someone who should factor into the mix for saves in Miami.

Marlins recalled LHP Cade Gibson from Triple-A Jacksonville.
Gibson gives the Marlins a fresh bullpen arm. The 27-year-old threw 2 1/3 scoreless innings in his only appearance with Miami back in April.

Gibson made his major league debut Sunday, pitching 2 1/3 scoreless innings against the Phillies. Since he threw 34 pitches, he’s being swapped out for a fresh arm now.

Marlins selected the contract of LHP Cade Gibson from Triple-A Jacksonville.
Gibson provides Miami with a fresh relief arm for Sunday’s series finale against the Phillies. It’s the first call-up for the 27-year-old southpaw after spending the last four seasons in Miami’s system after being selected in the 10th round of the 2022 MLB Draft. He’ll operate in long relief for the Marlins.
