The Yankees acquired Eden from the Blue Jays a year ago knowing that he was never going to hit but thinking that he might still be worth an October roster spot as a pinch-running specialist. Alas, they never did promote him to the majors. He was hitting .220/.287/.325 in the minors this season.

Eden hasn’t spent any time on a 40-man roster this season, making him eligible to be traded. The 26-year-old speedster was hitting .198/.299/.322 with 26 steals in Triple-A. He might join the Yankees as a pinch-running specialist next month.
