Phillies acquired RHP Chase Shugart from the Pirates for INF Francisco Loreto.
Shugart, who was DFA’d last week, had a 3.40 ERA in 45 innings for the Pirates last season, though his peripherals weren’t very impressive; his K/BB was 31/17 and his groundball rate was only 33%. He does have an option year left, though, and the Phillies were surely attracted to that. Loreto, an 18-year-old signed out of Venezuela two years ago, wasn’t regarded as one of the Phillies’ better prospects. He hit .237/.332/.396 in 47 games in the Florida Complex League last season.

Pirates designated RHP Chase Shugart for assignment.
Shugart was booted from Pittsburgh’s 40-man roster earlier this week to make room for veteran slugger Ryan O’Hearn. The 29-year-old reliever compiled a decent 4.69 FIP and 31/17 K/BB ratio across 45 innings over 35 appearances for the Pirates this past season. He should attract some interest on waivers as middle relief depth.

Pirates recalled RHP Chase Shugart from Triple-A Indianapolis.
Shugart, who was picked up from the Red Sox last offseason, has a 3.50 ERA and a 29/17 K/BB in 43 2/3 innings this season, though that didn’t stop the Pirates from keeping him in the minors the last five weeks. He doesn’t seem like someone who will stick on the 40-man this winter.

Pirates optioned RHP Chase Shugart to Triple-A Indianapolis.
Shugart is the corresponding move to free up a spot on Pittsburgh’s active roster for top prospect Bubba Chandler to officially ascend to the majors prior to Friday’s series opener against the Rockies. The 28-year-old righty has posted a solid 3.50 ERA across 43 2/3 innings (34 appearances) this season in the big leagues.

Pirates activated RHP Chase Shugart from the 15-day injured list.
The 28-year-old right-hander had been shelved since July 8 due to inflammation in his left knee. Before landing on the shelf, he had registered a 3.69 ERA, 1.15 WHIP and a 22/15 K/BB ratio over 39 frames in 32 appearances out of the Pirates’ bullpen. Dauri Moreta was optioned back to Triple-A Indianapolis in a corresponding move on Monday.

Padres placed RHP Chase Shugart on the 15-day injured list with left knee inflammation.
No word yet on how much time Shugart is going to miss. The 28-year-old righty has registered a solid 3.69 ERA, 1.15 WHIP and 22/15 K/BB ratio across 39 innings (32 appearances) this season in his Pirates debut.

Pirates recalled RHP Chase Shugart from Triple-A Indianapolis.
Shugart fortifies Pittsburgh’s bullpen ahead of Tuesday’s matchup against the Nationals. The 28-year-old rookie has made three scoreless relief appearances this season in his brief time in the majors.
  • PIT Catcher #5
Pirates are planning to place Endy Rodríguez on the IL and recall Chase Shugart prior to Tuesday’s game.
Rodríguez suffered a finger laceration Monday night. The Pirates have been going with an extra position player since Joey Bart hurt his back, so Shugart’s addition will put them back up to 13 pitchers. If Rodríguez hadn’t gotten hurt, Henry Davis probably would have returned to Triple-A within the next couple of days.

Pirates recalled RHP Chase Shugart from Triple-A Indianapolis.
Shugart has made six big league appearances, all coming with the Red Sox in 2024. The 28-year-old right-hander is coming up with Colin Holderman going on the injured list with a knee sprain. Shugart figures to work mostly in low leverage situations.
