Rays hired former OF Corey Dickerson as their first base coach.
Dickerson last played for the Nationals in 2023, where he hit .252/.285/.357 with two homers and 17 RBI in 151 plate appearances. He finishes his playing career with a .280/.323/.476 slash line in 1,084 games with 136 home runs, 469 RBI, and 30 steals.
  • MLB Left Fielder #23
    Nationals released OF Corey Dickerson.
Dickerson could wind up latching on with a contender in a righty-mashing reserve outfield role over the next few weeks. The 34-year-old slugging outfielder has hit .252/.285/.357 with two homers and 17 RBI across 151 plate appearances in 49 games this season for the Nationals.
  • WSH Outfield #23
Corey Dickerson was removed for a pinch-hitter after going 0-for-2 against the Mets on Sunday.
If there are no takers for Dickerson prior to the deadline, the Nationals ought to let him go. The 34-year-old has been a liability in hitting .248/.278/.336 this season, and it’s past time to take a look at Jake Alu or maybe Blake Rutherford in his place.
  • WSH 1st Baseman #22
Dominic Smith is not in Friday’s lineup against the Giants.
He’ll take a seat against left-hander Alex Wood. Michael Chavis will make the start at first base and bat seventh. Also of note, Stone Garrett will start in left field while Corey Dickerson is on the bench.

Corey Dickerson went 2-for-4 with an RBI double in the Nationals’ 4-2 defeat of the Royals on Saturday.
Dickerson is 9-for-24 with two homers and eight RBI in eight games since returning from the injured list last week. If he stays hot, he could begin picking up some starts against lefties. He’ll definitely keep playing every time the Nationals are facing a righty.

Nationals activated OF Corey Dickerson from the 10-day injured list.
Dickerson rejoins the Nationals for Monday’s game against the Mets following a six-week absence due to left calf strain. The 33-year-old corner outfielder should play regularly in left field against right-handed pitching for Washington moving forward with Stone Garrett drawing starts against southpaws.

Corey Dickerson (calf) went 1-for-3 on Sunday in a minor league rehab game for Triple-A Rochester.
Dickerson is working his way back from a left calf strain that sent him to the injured list back in early April and figures to rejoin Washington’s corner outfield mix sometime later this week.

Corey Dickerson (calf) doubled Friday in a minor league rehab game for Triple-A Rochester.
Dickerson has been on the shelf since early April due to a left calf strain. He figures to return sometime later this month as part of Washington’s left field platoon mix, which considerably limits his appeal for fantasy managers. He seems highly likely to wind up dealt to a contender as a pinch-hitting option sometime later this summer.

Corey Dickerson (calf) will begin a minor league rehab assignment Friday with Triple-A Rochester.
Dickerson has been out since April 1 due to a left calf strain, but he’s finally ready to return to game action. The Nats signed the veteran outfielder to a one-year, $2.25 million deal during the offseason and he’ll presumably see regular at-bats against right-handers once he’s deemed ready to return.

Corey Dickerson (calf) has begun taking light swings, but isn’t yet running.
Dickerson landed on the 10-day injured list Sunday due to a mild left calf strain, but he traveled with the team to Colorado and it’s a good sign he’s at least doing some baseball activity. Of course, he’ll need to run without discomfort before the Nationals bring him back or send him on a minor league rehab assignment. A return later this month is possible.
