Daniel Schneemann delivered a two-out, pinch-hit two-run single in the seventh inning on Tuesday, helping to lead the Guardians to a critical victory over the Tigers in the opener of their three-game series.
Schneemann came on to bat for Angel Martinez with two outs and two runners in scoring position in the seventh inning and the Guardians clinging to a one-run lead. After fouling off a pair of two-strike offerings from Kyle Finnegan, he lined a two-run single into left field that gave the Guardians a bit of breathing room. For the season, the versatile 28-year-old is now hitting .213/.289/.365 with 12 homers, 41 RBI and nine swipes in 409 plate appearances.
  • CLE Shortstop #13
Gabriel Arias (wrist) was held out of the Guardians’ starting lineup for a third consecutive game on Thursday.
The 25-year-old infielder has been dealing with inflammation in his right wrist since he exited Monday’s series opener against the Royals. While they are taking things on a day-by-day basis for now, if things don’t improve by the weekend the Guardians may be forced to consider a backdated stint on the injured list. Brayan Rocchio will cover shortstop again on Thursday with Daniel Schneemann starting at second base against Stephen Kolek and the Royals.

Daniel Schneemann went 3-for-5 with a double and two RBI versus the Royals on Monday.
Schneeman, who was hitting .149/.186/.269 in his previous 20 games, started in center field tonight after playing second base on Saturday and third base on Sunday. It looked like he might be losing playing time last week, when he sat versus lefties, a common occurrence, on Tuesday and Wednesday and then against a righty on Friday, but that doesn’t seem to be the case now. Schneeman is batting .223/.302/.380 in 378 plate appearances on the season.

Daniel Schneemann went 2-for-3 with a double, a run scored, two RBI, and a walk in Cleveland’s 3-2 win over the Rays on Saturday.
Schneemann stepped to the plate with the bases loaded in the fourth inning and delivered a two-run double to put the Guardians on the board. He drew a walk in the sixth, then knocked a base hit and scored the go-ahead run in the ninth. The 28-year-old super-utility man is hitting .220/.302/.378 with 11 homers, 42 runs scored, 36 RBI, and nine steals across 369 plate appearances.

Guardians activated INF/OF Daniel Schneemann from the paternity list.
Scheemann is back and takes the roster spot of Carlos Santana, as Santana was officially released by Cleveland on Thursday.
  • CLE 2nd Baseman #10
Guardians placed INF/OF Daniel Schneemann on the paternity list.
Schneeman figures to miss the three-game series against the Rays, leading to some extra at-bats for Angel Martínez and Nolan Jones.
  • CLE 2nd Baseman #10
Daniel Schneemann went 2-for-5 with a double, a triple, two RBI, and two runs scored in a loss to the Braves on Sunday.
Schneemann has been earning more starts in a super utility role over the last few weeks and has gone 20-for-75 (.267) in 24 games since the All-Star break. That has come with one home run, seven RBI, and 14 runs scored, so there is not a lot of fantasy value to mine here.

Daniel Schneeman went 3-for-4 with a homer and a double in the Guardians’ 5-4 victory over the Twins on Saturday.
Schneeman has typically hit in the bottom half of the order for the Guardians, but he’s batted second in his last three starts, and it worked out very well today, as he was right in front of José Rámirez, who was, believe it or not, the Guardians’ other top performer in the contest. Schneeman is batting .226/.312/.397 in 286 plate appearances while playing primarily against righties. That he’s seeing more time in the outfield now with Gabriel Arias back is further bad news for Nolan Jones and Angel Martínez.
  • CLE 2nd Baseman #1
Angel Martínez is not in the lineup for Tuesday’s game against the Rockies.
It’s a rare off day for Martínez, who has made 21 consecutive starts for Cleveland dating back to July 4. The 23-year-old has hit a minor speed bump recently, hitting .222 (6-for-27) with one RBI over his past seven games. It’ll be Daniel Schneeman taking over in center field and batting second on Tuesday night in his absence.
  • CLE Shortstop #4
Brayan Rocchio is not in the Guardians’ starting lineup for Friday night’s battle against the Tigers.
It looks to be just a routine night off for the 24-year-old infielder. Daniel Schneemann will slide over and cover the shortstop position in his absence while Angel Martinez will draw a start at second base and bat ninth against Tigers’ right-hander Reese Olson.
