Mariners reassigned OF Brennen Davis, LHP Jhonathan Diaz and RHP Dane Dunning to minor league camp.
Davis did a nice job during Cactus League play, but he was always considered a longshot to land a bench spot on the M’s Opening Day roster. Diaz and Dunning will begin the year as extra pitching depth at Triple-A Tacoma.
  • SEA Starting Pitcher #34
Dane Dunning allowed no runs over 1 2/3 innings in his Cactus League start against the Padres on Friday.
Dunning did issue a pair of walks, but allowed just a hit and picked up a strikeout before exiting. The 31-year-old is with the Mariners on a minor-league contract and will be a depth piece behind Seattle’s impressive five-man rotation to open 2026.

Mariners signed RHP Dane Dunning to a minor league contract.
The Mariners made a mistake last winter in failing to secure starting pitching depth behind their vaunted rotation, but it didn’t wind up hurting them much, as Emerson Hancock and Logan Evans were able to hold their own in their 31 starts. Dunning will add to their alternatives this year after a bumpy 2025 in which he was let go by the Rangers and was limited to 12 relief appearances in the majors. The 31-year-old has a career 4.44 ERA in 102 starts and 34 relief appearances, most of those coming with Texas.
  • FA Starting Pitcher #34
Braves RHP Dane Dunning elected free agency.
It was a tumultuous season for the 30-year-old right-hander who was dealt from the Rangers to the Braves in mid-July only to post a 10.80 ERA and 1.70 WHIP over 10 innings in seven appearances with them. He’ll look for a fresh start elsewhere, most likely as a starting pitcher.
  • ATL Center Fielder #24
Braves sent OF Jarred Kelenic, SS Luke Williams, C Sandy León and RHPs Alexis Díaz and Dane Dunning outright to Triple-A Gwinnett.
The lone surprise here is Kelenic as the former top prospect passed through waivers unclaimed and loses his spot on Atlanta’s 40-man roster. The 26-year-old batted just .195/.275/.268 across 91 plate appearances following an early-August demotion to the minors after posting a calamitous .531 OPS in 24 games at the big-league level this season. He’ll likely need to show some signs of life in the minors before he receives another opportunity at the highest level.
  • ATL Starting Pitcher #34
Braves optioned RHP Dane Dunning to Triple-A Gwinnett.
Dunning gave up three earned runs in 3 1/3 innings during his latest stint with the Braves. He’ll only be eligible to return this season if another pitcher lands on the injured list, so unless that happens, he’ll finish up with a 6.97 ERA in 20 2/3 innings between Texas and Atlanta.
  • ATL Starting Pitcher #34
Braves recalled RHP Dane Dunning from Triple-A Gwinnett.
Harris will begin a third stint with the Braves having given up nine runs in 6 2/3 innings over the first two. He’ll work in middle relief.
  • ATL Starting Pitcher #34
Braves optioned RHP Dane Dunning to Triple-A Gwinnett.
The 30-year-old hurler was up with the big league club for just two days and will head back to Triple-A to make room on the roster for Cal Quantrill who was scooped up off of waivers from the Marlins on Thursday. Dunning has posted a 12.15 ERA, 1.50 WHIP and an 8/2 K/BB ratio over 6 2/3 innings in five appearances with the Braves this season.
  • ATL Starting Pitcher #34
Braves recalled RHP Dane Dunning from Triple-A Gwinnett.
Dunning came over from the Rangers back in mid-July and was shipped back to the minors after being crushed for five runs without recording an out back on July 31. The 30-year-old righty will operate in low leverage spots for Atlanta.
  • ATL Starting Pitcher #34
Braves optioned RHP Dane Dunning to Triple-A Gwinnett.
Pretty much a given after last night. Dunning gave up five runs without recording an out against the Reds, taking his season ERA from 4.41 to 7.16.
