Rangers hired Dayton Moore as a senior advisor to baseball operations.
Moore has officially joined the Rangers’ front office under general manager Chris Young in an advisory role just a few weeks after there were several reports linking him to the organization. Moore was dismissed as Kansas City’s president of baseball operations back in September. He had led the Royals’ front office since 2006.

Andy McCullough and Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic report that the Royals have fired president of baseball operations Dayton Moore.
Royals owner John Sherman has since made the news official in a press conference at Kauffman Stadium on Wednesday afternoon. Moore had been at the helm in Kansas City since 2006 and was the primary architect of the roster that won a World Series championship in 2015. But the organization has fallen stagnant since and is currently on a run of six consecutive losing seasons. J.J. Picollo, named the team’s new GM this time last year, will now step into Moore’s lead role. We’ll see what happens with manager Mike Matheny.

According to Mark Feinsand of MLB.com, the Royals are promoting Dayton Moore to president of baseball operations and JJ Picollo to general manager.
The Royals are expected to make it official Tuesday afternoon. Moore has served as the team’s general manager dating back to June of 2006. The team has won a World Series during his tenure and is in the process of rebuilding. Picollo is in his sixth season as the team’s vice president/assistant GM-player personnel. He’s been considered as a general manager with other teams along the way and this move ensures that he’ll stick around rather than leave for another team this offseason.
