The Rangers have more than enough outfielders to compensate for losing Sadler, but at 28, he’s not likely to want to start all over, or gain much from it.

Sadler was injured trying to run out an infield hit Sunday. He’s day-to-day.

The Padres are looking for a second utility infielder.

Sadler is listed as day-to-day.

A typical player would have been hit in the back by the ball, but the 5-foot-6 Sadler took the drive in the back of the head and suffered a concussion. Tests will reveal whether it’s a day-to-day concussion or something that will put him on the DL.

Sadler is playing shortstop in place of Alex Cintron.

Sadler can’t hit, but he’s a nice option for the Rangers with the way the team is set up now. He gives the Rangers another legit center fielder, allowing the team to pinch-hit for Ryan Christenson, and he can replace Alex Rodriguez in blowouts. No fantasy value.

Sadler was playing for Triple-A Tucson before drawing the suspension. He’s 0-for-1 this season with Arizona and is a career .202 major league hitter in 418 games. He’ll miss the rest of the season and the start of 2008.

Sadler hit .198 in 77 games this year, dropping his career average to .204.
