Millas is out for the season with a broken finger sustained on a catcher’s interference.

Millas both fractured and dislocated his finger, and the operation will keep him out with the expectation that he’ll be ready for the start of the 2026 season. The 27-year-old will likely battle for a backup backstop role in spring training.

There’s a pretty good chance Millas won’t be able to return this year, but he’ll miss at least a week and a half after suffering the injury during Wednesday’s game against the Yankees. C.J. Stubbs is up to take Millas’ place on the roster.

The injury occurred when Millas was hit in the finger on a swing from Austin Wells. A trip to the injured list for the 27-year-old backstop seems very likely, but for now Riley Adams has taken over behind the plate.

Millas returns to the big leagues for Tuesday’s game against the Cardinals with starter Keibert Ruiz landing on the concussion injured list. He’ll split the catching duties with Riley Adams moving forward.

Millas appeared in three games while Keibert Ruiz was on the injured list and went 1-for-7 with an RBI.

The 26-year-old backstop is hitting .167 (5-for-30) with one homer and two steals in 11 games this season in the big leagues, but he’s been putting up some strong numbers recently for Triple-A Rochester.
