Hartlieb

Hartlieb made four relief appearances between the Tigers and Yankees last season before finishing the year in the Royals’ system. The well-traveled 31-year-old journeyman will compete for a spot in the Athletics’ season-opening bullpen during spring training.

Hartlieb was released last week from his minor league contract with Detroit and will head to Kansas City as emergency organizational relief depth. The well-traveled 31-year-old has made four appearances this season at the highest level between the Tigers and Yankees.

Hartlieb was designated for assignment and elected free agency at the end of July, but the 31-year-old tested the waters and decided a return to Detroit was the best move. He’ll be organizational depth while he’s employed by the club.

Hartlieb passed through waivers unclaimed after being designated for assignment earlier this week to make room for reliever Luke Jackson. The 31-year-old journeyman made a pair of relief appearances for the Tigers during his brief stint with the club. There’s a chance he opts to stick around as emergency organizational depth, but he figures to elect free agency.

The 31-year-old hurler was signed to a minor league deal over the All-Star break. Hartlieb holds a 3.86 ERA, 1.21 WHIP and a 42/10 K/BB ratio across 37 1/3 innings at the Triple-A level this season. He’ll add a fresh arm to a depleted Tigers’ bullpen for Thursday’s series opener against the Blue Jays.

The 31-year-old hurler elected free agency from the Yankees on Friday and it didn’t take him long to find another viable opportunity with a contender. He’ll report to Triple-A Toledo to begin his Tigers’ tenure, but don’t be surprised to see him in Motown shortly after the All-Star break.

The 31-year-old right-hander was designated for assignment earlier in the week and passed through waivers unclaimed. Rather than accepting an outright assignment to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre though, he’ll hit the open market. It shouldn’t take him long to land on his feet elsewhere.

The Yankees needed to make room on the 40-man roster for Cam Schlittler to make his debut on Wednesday, so Hartlieb was designated for assignment. He will likely clear waivers and return to the Yankees’ minor league system.

Hartlieb returns to New York’s relief mix for his second stint this season after spending a couple days on the free agent wire. The 31-year-old journeyman righty made one relief outing for the Yankees back in late June. He’ll operate in middle relief situations.
