Braves optioned LHP Hayden Harris to Triple-A Gwinnett; reassigned RHPs Carlos Carrasco, Elieser Hernández and James Karinchak to minor league camp.
The latest batch of cuts trims Atlanta’s spring training roster to 50 players. Carrasco is one of the highest-profile non-roster invitees in Braves camp this spring as he attempts to make it back to the big leagues for a 17th season since 2009. He figures to gobble up low-leverage innings at some point in the year. The same goes for Hernández and Karinchak, who were notable pitchers earlier this decade.

Braves recalled LHP Hayden Harris from Triple-A Gwinnett.
Harris fortifies Atlanta’s bullpen for the final weekend of the regular season after making three relief appearances earlier this month in his first taste of the majors.

Braves optioned LHP Hayden Harris to Triple-A Gwinnett.
Harris wasn’t going to be available tonight after throwing 38 pitches the last two days, so down he goes, even though the Braves used only three actual relievers yesterday and already jettisoned one of them (Rolddy Muñoz) this morning; they should be feeling just fine about the workload of their pen. Harris allowed one run in 2 2/3 innings in six days with the Braves.

Braves recalled LHP Hayden Harris from Triple-A Gwinnett.
Harris’ story is an interesting one. After going undrafted out of Georgia Southern, Harris played for the Savannah Bananas and then joined the Frederick Keys of the MLB Draft League. The Braves then signed him at the end of the 2022 season, and he has been climbing the ranks since then. This season, in 48 innings split between Double-A and Triple-A, Harris has a 0.56 ERA, 0.73 WHIP, and 73/16 K/BB ratio. He won’t have fantasy value this season, but it will be fun to see how he adjusts to MLB hitters.
