The 20-year-old Chourio had just arrived in Double-A, going 0-for-6 in two games following his promotion Sunday. He hit .321/.433/.487 with 10 steals in 21 games for High-A Lake County previously.

Jaison Chourio is being bumped up to Double-A Akron by the Guardians.
Jackson’s younger brother was off to a very promising start, hitting .321/.433/.487 with 10 steals in 21 games for High-A Lake County. He had seven doubles and two homers in 97 plate appearances. Last year, playing mostly at the same level, he had seven doubles and two homers in 380 plate appearances.

Jaison Chourio doubled twice Wednesday for Zulia of the Venezuelan Winter League.
The 20-year-old Chourio is more than holding his own in a league filled with far more experienced players, having hit .299/.386/.402 in 114 plate appearances. He was a little disappointing in the minors last season, missing time with a shoulder strain and hitting .237/.379/.286 in 87 games while mostly playing in High-A. Still, while he’s not the phenom his older brother Jackson is, he has a chance to become a capable major league leadoff man down the line.

Guardians OF prospect Jaison Chourio is dealing with a mild right shoulder strain.
Chourio rocketed up prospect rankings lists last year when he hit .270/.414/.398 with five homers and 44 steals in 98 games for Low-A Lynchburg. The 19-year-old younger brother of Brewers superstar Jackson Chourio was hitting .214/.396/.271 with one homer and four steals in 21 games this season at High-A Lake County. The injury is not considered serious, but it’s likely going to cost him at least a couple weeks of game action.
