Hager

Hager hasn’t appeared in the majors since the 2022 season when he got into a career-high 28 contests for the Diamondbacks. The 31-year-old journeyman infielder offers plenty of defensive versatility, but he’s more of an emergency stopgap at this stage of his career than anything else.

Hager re-signed with the Diamondbacks last offseason after getting into a career-high 28 games last year for Arizona. The 30-year-old infielder has been jettisoned after batting .245/.301/.415 with three homers and one steal across 209 plate appearances this season for Triple-A Reno.

The versatile 29-year-old re-signed with the team after being removed from the 40-man roster in November. He will serve as organizational depth for the Diamondbacks this season.

Hager opened the scoring in the ballgame with a two-run ground rule double off of Franklin German in the second inning. He then scored on Corbin Carroll’s two-run single. It was a nice day in what has otherwise been a rough spring for Hager as he’s hitting just .216 (8-for-37) with one homer and six RBI.

Hager got into 28 contests last season for the Diamondbacks, tallying 12 hits in 50 at-bats. The versatile 29-year-old infielder is capable of filling in at multiple spots and will continue to serve as quality organizational depth for Arizona.

Hager has been removed from the Diamondbacks’ 40-man roster heading into the offseason after getting into 28 games this past season. He batted just .240/.345/.280 across 59 plate appearances last year in the majors. The 29-year-old utility infielder represents organizational depth as a temporary fill-in option at the big-league level.

Hager will join the major league roster for the final few days after Emmanuel Rivera suffered a fractured left wrist. The 29-year-old infielder hit .261/.342/.391 with five homers and eight steals across 303 plate appearances in Triple-A this season.

Hager went unclaimed on waivers after being designated for assignment last week. The versatile 29-year-old infielder, who has gotten into 28 games this season in the majors, will remain with the Diamondbacks as organizational position player depth.

The move clears a spot on the roster for waiver claim Reyes Moronta. Hager can’t hit much at all, but perhaps another team will be interested in his versatility.

Hager has managed to hold his own this season at the major-league level, hitting .240/.345/.280 across 59 plate appearances in 29 games. The versatile 29-year-old infielder should find his way back to Arizona later this year.
