Yankees OF prospect Jake Sanford went 4-for-6 with a homer on Sunday for Low-A Tampa.
Sanford also scored twice and drove in three runs. The 23-year-old is a bit old -- bit being nice -- for the Low-A level, but the Yankees are taking things slowly with the 102nd pick of the 2019 draft out of Western Kentucky. There are two plus tools here in his power and speed, and while he likely won’t hit for a high average because of a long swing, he does have a chance to hit 25-plus homers and steal some bases at the highest level. Because of his age and swing-and-miss there’s a lot of volatility in Sanford’s profile, but with the risk comes some reward with his left-handed bat.
