James McArthur (elbow) underwent another surgical procedure last week.
It sounds like there’s a chance McArthur will pitch this season after undergoing another procedure to address lingering soreness and inflammation in his elbow. The 29-year-old is unlikely to be an option for Kansas City’s bullpen until the later stages of the second half.

Royals transferred RHP James McArthur to the 60-day injured list.
Nothing has changed in the prognosis for the 29-year-old right-hander, who is still in the process of recovering from off-season elbow surgery, this was done as a procedural move to clear a spot on the Royals’ 40-man roster for the addition of Elias Diaz on Sunday. McArthur won’t be eligible to return until the end of May.

Royals placed RHP James McArthur on the 15-day injured list.
McArthur is working his way back from last year’s right elbow surgery and will likely be transferred to the 60-day injured list when Kansas City needs to free up a 40-man roster spot. The 28-year-old reliever likely won’t be an option until sometime around midseason.

James McArthur (elbow) will not be ready for the start of spring training.
McArthur underwent surgery to stabilize an olecranon fracture in the offseason, and has just now started throwing. The 28-year-old right-hander is a candidate to begin the season on the injured list but, when healthy, the hope is he’ll be a high-leverage option for Kansas City for the majority of 2025.

McArthur went on the injured list with a right elbow strain last week. While the chance of him returning was already slim, he didn’t progress enough in the last week for there to be any chance for him to return now.
