Anthony Volpe is starting at shortstop and batting sixth against the Rays on Wednesday

Volpe had sat the last two games with Jose Caballero playing shortstop, but Caballero will move to second base on Wednesday and Jazz Chisholm Jr. will get a day off. Earlier this season, Volpe became the first player in MLB history with over 1,800 plate appearances and an on-base percentage under .285. His defense at shortstop has improved this year, but he’s not giving the Yankees much else.

Jazz Chisholm Jr. (toe) is in the lineup for Monday’s series opener against the division-rival Rays.

Chisholm is back at second base and hitting sixth after exiting Sunday’s series finale against the Twins with right big toe discomfort. The 28-year-old power/speed combo threat has been dealing with the lingering toe issue since undergoing surgery during his time with the Marlins back in 2023. It’s an encouraging sign that he’s feeling well enough to get back into New York’s lineup without missing any additional time.

Jazz Chisholm Jr. left Sunday’s game against the Twins with right toe discomfort.

Chisholm went 1-for-2 with and was caught stealing before exiting the game. The 28-year-old will likely undergo imaging to make sure there’s no structural damage, but for now should be considered day-to-day.

Jazz Chisholm Jr. went 2-for-5 with a double, a run scored, and two stolen bases as the Yankees fell to the Tigers 6-2 in 11 innings.

Both of Chisholm’s stolen bases came in the team’s ninth-inning rally that tied the game at two. He’s up to 26 on the year, which ranks third in MLB. Chisholm hasn’t had the season he was hoping for as a pending free agent, but he continues to stuff the stat sheet for fantasy managers. The one downside to his fantasy profile has been a .225 average, which would be a career-worst if the season ended today. Every projection system pegs him to improve his average from here on out, which would pair favorably with a new career-high in steals. Chisholm stole 40 back in 2024.

Jazz Chisholm has cleared concussion protocol and will be available off the bench for Tuesday’s game against the Tigers.

Chisholm appears to have avoided a serious injury after a frightening collision with teammate Jasson Domínguez on a pop-up in shallow right field during Monday’s game against Detroit. It’ll be speedster José Caballero taking over at second base on Tuesday evening, but fantasy managers shouldn’t anticipate a lengthy absence.

Jazz Chisholm Jr. was removed from Monday’s series opener against the Tigers following a collision with teammate Jasson Domínguez.

Chisholm took the brunt of the collision when Domínguez ran through him while attempting to field a pop-up in shallow right field, making contact with his head. It appeared Domínguez either didn’t call him off or Chisholm didn’t hear the call in time. The 28-year-old second baseman was able to walk off the field under his own power and didn’t lose consciousness on the play. He’ll undergo evaluation for a possible concussion. There should be an update on his status following the contest.

Jazz Chisholm Jr. was ejected from Sunday night’s game in the sixth inning after arguing a checked swing.

Chisholm was right to be mad; his swing was borderline at best, and it definitely wasn’t one the home plate umpire should have called himself. Chisholm made it clear that Adam Hamari should have checked with the third base ump and was tossed during the argument. Anthony Volpe replaced him, with José Caballero moving from short to second.

Jazz Chisholm Jr. is out of the lineup for Saturday’s contest against the Red Sox.

Chisholm was at the epicenter of a bizarre lollipop controversy earlier this week, but he’s had a solid month at the plate from a fantasy perspective, launching six homers and swiping 10 bases, despite hitting just .189 (14-for-74) since the start of June. The 28-year-old takes a seat with rookie lefty Jake Bennett taking the ball for the Red Sox at Fenway Park on Saturday afternoon. It’ll be José Caballero filling in at second base.

Jazz Chisholm Jr. went 2-for-4 with two runs scored and a two-run home run against the Tigers on Tuesday.

Chisholm’s home run was his 12th. He hit a two-run shot off Casey Mize to give the Yankees the lead in the sixth inning. Chisholm got a slider down and in with two strikes and didn’t miss it. He has six home runs and 13 RBI in 19 games so far in June. Chisholm is still just hitting .230 with a .731 OPS this year.

Jazz Chisholm Jr. was removed from Thursday night’s battle against the White Sox due to a potential groin injury.

Chisholm had a foul ball bounce off the ground and back into his groin area and appeared to be in a substantial amount of pain before exiting the ballgame. That’s probably going to ruin his weekend. He should be considered day-to-day.
