Brewers signed SS Cooper Pratt to an eight-year contract with club options for 2024 and ’25.
With the deal, he was added to the 40-man roster and immediately optioned to Triple-A Nashville. Pratt’s contract is worth a reported $51 million. He might get a chance to take over at shortstop this summer if Joey Ortiz struggles offensively. Still, it’ll be interesting to see how this works out in the long run with two superior shortstop prospects behind him in 18-year-old Jesús Made and 19-year-old Luis Peña. It would seem to ensure that is current Triple-A teammate, Jett Williams, is going to wind up at third or in center field.

Jett Williams went 1-for-3 with a walk, three runs scored, and a stolen base for Triple-A Nashville on Monday.
Williams has gone 3-for-11 to start the season with three strikeouts and three walks and has also stolen three bases without being caught. The Brewers are using David Hamilton and Luis Rengifo at third base right, which seems to be a signal that they’re holding the spot until Williams is ready. His speed is going to be a major asset when he finally takes over the job.

Brewers optioned RHP Carlos Rodriguez to Triple-A Nashville; reassigned INF/OF Jett Williams, 3B Brock Wilken, OF Luis Lara and RHP Jacob Waguespack to minor league camp.
Rodriguez made four relief appearances for the Brewers last season and figures to occupy a swingman-type role once he gets back to the big leagues. Williams was the big prize for Milwaukee in the Freddy Peralta trade back in the offseason and offers enough power/speed combo upside to make an impact in fantasy leagues once he reaches the majors. He isn’t too far away.

Jett Williams went 2-for-3 with an RBI and also stole a base on Monday as the Brewers rallied to a 24-9 blowout win over the Dodgers in Cactus League action.
Trailing by a touchdown at the time, Williams finally put Milwaukee on the scoreboard with a fifth-inning single to center field. He also picked up his second theft of the spring while reaching base safely in three of his four plate appearances. The crown jewel of the Freddy Peralta trade with the Mets in the offseason, Williams offers an intriguing blend of fantasy-relevant tools with above-average speed and more jolt in his bat than his five-foot-seven frame would indicate. The 22-year-old speedster will open the year in the upper minors and could be an impactful fantasy contributor for a strong Milwaukee lineup once he breaks into the majors.

Jett Williams (quad) will return to spring training action on Thursday.
Williams, who came over from the Mets in the Freddy Peralta trade, has been out since February 23rd, when he injured his quad running out a triple. He was never likely to break camp with the Brewers, but he could be an option at shortstop of third base by the middle of the season.

Jett Williams has been shelved for the past few days in Brewers’ camp due to left quad soreness.
The 22-year-old prospect suffered the injury while legging out a triple during Monday’s game. The Brewers are calling it a very minor injury and are simply taking a cautious approach as to not make it any worse. Williams is tentatively expected to return to game action early next week.

According to Todd Rosiak of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, Brewers INF prospect Jett Williams said that shortstop “will be his focus heading into spring training.”
Williams was just acquired from the Mets as part of the Freddy Peralta trade last week. The 22-year-old also has experience at second base and center field and is “pretty comfortable at all three positions now,” but he’ll begin his Brewers career playing shortstop. That means that current starting shortstop Joey Ortiz, who was also acquired for a pending free agent starting pitcher, is on notice. Williams hit .262/.363/.465 with 17 homers and 34 steals between Double- and Triple-A last year and could push for MLB at-bats if he gets off to a strong start in Triple-A.

2022 first-round pick Jett Williams was traded from the Mets to the Brewers in the four-player Freddy Peralta deal.
Williams is just 5-foot-7, but he packs some punch anyway, coming in at .262/.363/.465 with 17 homers and 34 steals between Double- and Triple-A last year. He’s still mostly a shortstop at this point, but he’s logged time in center and at second base, and center might wind up being his best position. He just turned 22 in November, and he probably needs another full year in the minors, but he projects as a regular somewhere, and his speed makes him particularly intriguing as a fantasy prospect.

The Mets are acquiring Freddy Peralta from the Brewers for Brandon Sproat and Jett Williams, sources told ESPN’s Jeff Passan.
The Mets will also get Tobias Myers, The Athletic’s Will Sammon confirms. Coming off his fifth place finish in the NL Cy Young balloting, Peralta will join Nolan McLean, David Peterson, Clay Holmes and likely either Kodai Senga or Sean Manaea in the Mets rotation. Sproat could be a candidate to go right into Milwaukee’s rotation, though it seems more likely that he’ll open up in Triple-A. Williams is probably a year away, but he could be a starting shortstop or center fielder for the Brewers in 2027. The Mets will have Peralta for $8 million this year before he becomes eligible for free agency next winter.

The New York Post’s Joel Sherman says the Mets-Brewers talks regarding Freddy Peralta are serious and that the Mets are also due to receive fellow right-hander Tobias Myers if a trade is completed.
Sherman says the Brewers have asked for both Brandon Sproat and Jett Williams, and it sounds like the Mets may have relented following the addition of Myers to the proposed deal.
