Brewers signed OF Jimmy Herron to a minor league contract and invited him to spring training.

Herron, 28, spent each of the past four seasons in the Rockies’ organization. In 2024, he slashed a solid .283/.362/.459 with 15 homers, 72 RBI and 16 stolen bases in 427 plate appearances across 98 games mostly at Triple-A Albuquerque. He could wind up being an intriguing bench bat given his combination of power and speed, but first he’ll have to crack a very crowded Brewers’ outfield mix.

Rockies acquired OF prospect Jimmy Herron from the Cubs for international bonus pool funds.

Herron was a third-round pick by the Cubs last year out of Duke, and the 23 year-old has hit just .220/.320/.336 at High-A Myrtle Beach. He has stolen 19 bases, however, and it’s possible he develops into a bench bat for the Rockies.
