Giants placed RHP Joel Peguero on the 15-day injured list with a strained left hamstring.
Peguero emerged as a reliable reliever for the Giants in the second half of last year and was supposed to be in the late-game mix to open this year, but his hamstring shut him down since early in camp. He has been throwing recently, and it’s possible he’ll return before the end of April.

Joel Peguero has been diagnosed with a Grade 2 hamstring strain.
Peguero is facing a multi-week absence and is a virtual lock to open the regular season with a trip to the injured list. The 28-year-old righty has been battling a hamstring issue in recent weeks and finally underwent an MRI that revealed the severity. He posted a strong 2.43 ERA – 3.43 xERA – across 22 1/3 innings over 17 appearances for the Giants in his big-league debut last year.

Joel Peguero (hamstring) threw a bullpen session without issue on Saturday.
The 28-year-old right-hander reported feeling significant improvement from the tight left hamstring that had sidelined him during the week. He still has plenty of time to ramp up in time for the start of the regular season.

Giants’ right-hander Joel Peguero has been slowed early in spring camp due to tightness in his left hamstring.
The Giants are going to keep him limited over the next week or so in an effort to combat the issue. Peguero is expected to be a key cog in the club’s bullpen for the 2026 season, so they’ll need to make sure that he’s healthy and ready to go by the end of March.
