Yankees optioned INF Jorbit Vivas to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.
There simply isn’t a spot for Vivas within New York’s infield mix following the acquisition of veteran third baseman Ryan McMahon from the Rockies. The 24-year-old rookie has batted .161 (9-for-56) with one homer and five RBI in 29 games this season at the big-league level.

Yankees recalled INF Jorbit Vivas from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.
Vivas has been summoned to join New York’s active roster in a bench role with DJ LeMahieu being jettisoned a couple days after losing his starting job at second base. The 24-year-old infielder got into 22 games earlier this season in the big leagues, batting .156 (7-for-45) with one homer and four RBI during that span. He’s unlikely to garner enough playing time to make an impact for fantasy purposes.

Yankees optioned INF Jorbit Vivas to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.
Pablo Reyes survives Jazz Chisholm Jr.'s return. Vivas has played much more than Reyes, but he was hitting .156/.255/.267 in 53 plate appearances and had lost time to DJ LeMahieu lately. He’ll return to starting regularly in Triple-A.

Aaron Boone said that Jazz Chisholm (oblique) will be in the starting lineup on Tuesday against the Guardians.
Chisholm was diagnosed with three separate tears in his oblique on May 7 and was expected to miss four to six weeks. The fact that he beat that timeline back onto the field is impressive, but it does make you question how healthy he is. The 27-year-old was hitting just .181/.304/.410 with a 31.2 percent strikeout rate in 30 games before getting hurt; however, he did have seven home runs and six steals to help provide fantasy value. The Yankees will allegedly use Chisholm at third base now that he’s back, which should open up second base for DJ LeMahieu and means that Jorbit Vivas would head to the bench or the minors.

Jorbit Vivas hit a solo homer in a 1-0 win for the Yankees on Thursday over the Rangers.
The homer for Vivas was not only the only run for either team Thursday, but it was the first MLB homer of the 24-year-old’s career. The infielder has not excelled with the bat in his first taste of MLB action as seen in a slash of .182/.270/.303, but you can’t take this moment away from him, and you shouldn’t try, either.

Jorbit Vivas drove in the go-ahead run with a fielder’s choice in the eighth inning on Sunday as the Yankees bested the Mets at Yankee Stadium.
With the score knotted up at two runs apiece and two men in scoring position with one out in the eighth inning, Vivas battled Ryne Stanek for 11 pitches before ultimately grounding to first base to plate the go ahead run. It was scored as a fielder’s choice, but Pete Alonso could have had a play at the plate had he not airmailed the throw to his catcher. Vivas came around to score later in the inning on Cody Bellinger’s grand slam. On the season, the 24-year-old is hitting .167/.265/.200 with zero homers and three RBI in his first 35 plate appearances.

DJ LeMahieu is not in the lineup for Tuesday’s game against the Mariners.
The Yankees are sticking with their original plan to let LeMahieu sit out Tuesday’s contest despite Oswaldo Cabrera’s serious ankle injury during Monday’s game. It’ll be Jorbit Vivas at second base with Oswald Peraza filling in at the hot corner on Tuesday night at T-Mobile Park.

Yankees activated INF DJ LeMahieu from the 10-day injured list.
LeMahieu played second base exclusively on his rehab assignment, suggesting that he was coming back to start over Jorbit Vivas in the Yankees infield. However, the team figures to pivot after the unfortunate Oswaldo Cabrera injury and use either Vivas or LeMahieu at third, with Oswald Peraza also seeing some time there. LeMahieu went 12-for-27 with one homer in his nine minor league games. It’s unlikely that he’ll offer fantasy value outside of AL-only leagues.

Oswaldo Cabrera left Monday’s game with a left leg injury suffered while running the bases.
Cabrera’s leg gave out on him on a non-contact play at home, and there’s a good chance he’s going to miss the rest of the season. The Yankees were already set to activate DJ LeMahieu this week, so he’ll take Cabrera’s spot. Jorbit Vivas, who had been set to lose much of his playing time to LeMahieu, figures to continue to start for now, and Pablo Reyes will keep his roster spot.

DJ LeMahieu will play two more games in Triple-A before the Yankees decide whether he’s ready to be activated.
LeMahieu resumed his rehab assignment Friday after hitting pause for a few days due to continued issues with his calf. He’s 1-for-6 in two games since the restart, though he’s 7-for-16 with a homer overall. LeMahieu has played only second base thus far, and it seems like he’ll probably get a shot there over Jorbit Vivas once activated.
