Mariners acquired LHP Jose Ferrer from the Nationals for C Harry Ford and RHP Isaac Lyon.
The 25-year-old hurler finished the 2025 season as the Nationals’ closer. He compiled a 4.48 ERA, 1.27 WHIP and a 71/16 K/BB ratio across 76 1/3 innings while securing 11 saves for the Nationals. He’ll add another talented weapon to the M’s bullpen, but he won’t be anywhere near the top of the pecking order in saves, which saps most of his fantasy value.

Jose Ferrer allowed one run and struck out three batters to record the save against the White Sox on Saturday.
Ferrer was summoned to close out the game in the top of the ninth with a two-run lead. He gave up one run on three hits but closed out the game with three strikeouts for his 11th save of the season to go with a 4.48 ERA over 76 1/3 innings.

Jose A. Ferrer allowed a solo homer but still picked up a save Wednesday against Atlanta.
Ferrer allowed a solo homer to Eli White, and also put the tying run on second after allowing two hits. He was able to get Drake Baldwin to ground out to end the contest and pick up his 10th save of 2025.

Jose A. Ferrer gave up three runs between the eighth and ninth innings to blow a save Saturday against the Mets.
The plan was for a two-inning save from Ferrer in a 3-0 game, and Miguel Cairo stuck with it even after Ferrer had a difficult eighth in which he hit a batter and gave up two doubles to score two runs. The Mets then tied things up on a single, a walk and another single in the ninth, but Ferrer was able to strike out Brandon Nimmo and Starling Marte with the bases loaded to send the game to extra innings. Ferrer is still probably the favorite for saves in the Nationals pen, but he’ll need Sunday off and maybe Monday, too, after throwing 43 pitches today.

Clayton Beeter struck out the side in a scoreless ninth inning on Sunday against the Pirates to record his first career save.
Beeter got the nod over Jose A. Ferrer, who threw 25 pitches to pick up a save on Friday night, to protect a one-run lead in the final frame. The 26-year-old rookie struck out Nick Yorke and Ji Hwan Bae to open the frame before things got interesting. Jared Triolo walked and Spencer Horwitx followed with s single. Beeter managed to strike out veteran Bryan Reynolds to extinguish the threat and preserve the victory.

Jose Ferrer allowed three hits and two runs with one walk and strikeout apiece in one inning or work to earn the save against the Pirates on Friday.
What an adventurous inning here for Ferrer. He allowed a run on two hits before recording an out and then put the go-ahead runs in scoring position after a walk and wild pitch. Then, Joey Bart hit a single that looked like it was going to tie the game until James Wood fired a perfect throw in from right field to nab Alexander Cannario at the plate. It was a miracle that Ferrer escaped this inning with the save intact.

Jose A. Ferrer recorded a one-out save on Tuesday against the Marlins.
Ferrer was summoned to record the final out of the ninth inning after Cole Henry got into trouble. There was no shortage of drama as a fielding error and a passed ball put a pair of runners in scoring position before Xavier Edwards brought home a run with an infield single, slashing the deficit to two runs at the time. Ferrer managed to put out the fire and preserve the win by retiring rookie Agustin Ramírez on a harmless groundball. It was his eighth save of the season.

Jose A. Ferrer pitched a scoreless ninth for his seventh save Sunday against the Cubs.
Ferrer set up for Cole Henry on Saturday, but that was largely because the top of the order was due up in the eighth. The Nationals didn’t think they were going to have a save chance today, but they exploded for five runs in the ninth, giving Ferrer a chance. Since he has pitched on back-to-back days, he could be held out on Monday, making Henry the favorite for a save chance then.

Cole Henry turned in a scoreless ninth with a one-run lead for his second save Saturday.
Jose A. Ferrer, the Nationals’ typical closer, was given the eighth against the top of the order today and retired Carlos Santana (pinch-hitting for Michael Busch), Ian Happ and Seiya Suzuki in order. Henry had more favorable matchups in the ninth, especially since Pete Crow-Armstrong had left due to injury. He gave up a one-out single to Nick Hoerner, but he retired the other three guys he faced. Ferrer is still the pitcher worth rostering in the Nationals pen.

Jose A. Ferrer tossed a perfect ninth inning on Tuesday against the Marlins to collect his sixth save of the season.
Ferrer was called upon for the second straight game needed 20 pitches to slam the door. He’s converted six of eight save opportunities this season to go along with a respectable 4.03 ERA across 67 innings. He’ll likely finish the season as Washington’s primary closing option.
