Guardians acquired OF Justin Boyd and a player to be named later of cash considerations from the Reds for OF Will Benson.
Boyd, 21, was the Reds’ second-round pick from the 2022 draft class. In his first taste of minor league action, he slashed .203/.277/.270 with zero home runs, four RBI, six stolen bases and a 29/8 K/BB ratio across 83 plate appearances -- mostly at Single-A Daytona. He’ll likely begin the 2023 campaign back at the single-A level for the Guardians.
