The Guardians just acquired Bruihl from the Blue Jays for cash on Wednesday, but now they’ll try to pass him through waivers. The 28-year-old has a 4.72 ERA in 89 2/3 major league innings since arriving in 2021.

Bruihl, 28, had a 5.27 ERA in 13 2/3 innings for Toronto last season, putting him at 4.72 in 89 2/3 career innings since he debuted with the Dodgers in 2021. Still, his Stuff metrics have improved, and he struck out 28% of the 65 batters he faced last season. He’s out of options, so he’ll probably have a spot in the Cleveland bullpen.

Bruihl has been jettisoned from Toronto’s relief mix to make room for side-winder Tyler Rogers. The 28-year-old lefty posted a pedestrian 5.27 ERA — 4.16 FIP — and 27.7 percent strikeout rate across 13 2/3 innings for the Blue Jays this past season.

The Jays wanted an extra lefty for their series against the Rays, so Bruihl is back in the majors for the first time since the end of August. He has a 5.68 ERA in 14 appearances this season.

Bruihl’s latest stint with Toronto only wound up lasting a couple days. The 28-year-old southpaw has posted an underwhelming 5.68 ERA across 12 2/3 innings (14 appearances) this season in the big leagues.

Bruihl will rejoin the pen for a day or three. He’s allowed eight runs — six earned — and 15 hits over 8 1/3 innings during his time with the Jays this season.

Bruihl is being sent down to make room for Easton Lucas, who is starting Game 1 of the doubleheader on Tuesday. Bruihl has a 6.48 ERA in 8 1/3 innings out of the Blue Jays’ bullpen this season.

Bruihl joins Toronto’s relief corps ahead of Tuesday’s game against the White Sox with Nick Sandlin hitting the injured list with elbow inflammation. The 28-year-old lefty has made four relief appearances this season for the Blue Jays. He’ll operate in low-leverage spots.

The 28-year-old southpaw did a nice job in four appearances out of the Jays’ bullpen, registering a 2.70 ERA, 1.20 WHIP and a 5/2 K/BB ratio over 3 1/3 innings. It shouldn’t take long for him to get another opportunity with the big league club.
