    White Sox purchased the contract of infielder Kelly Dransfeldt from Triple-A Charlotte.
    Dransfeldt, back in the majors for the first time since 2001, will be used as a utilityman until Jose Valentin returns.

    Red Sox signed shortstop Kelly Dransfeldt to a minor league contract and assigned him to Triple-A Pawtucket.
    The Red Sox were interested in Dransfeldt a couple of years ago back when he was still a semi-prospect. Dransfeldt has a nice glove, but he’s never going to hit, and it’s unlikely that he’ll return to the majors with Boston.

    Felipe Lopez is taking over as Louisville’s shortstop, so Dransfeldt will have to seak employment elsewhere. The former Rangers prospect was hitting .214 for Louisville.

    Dransfeldt went 6-for-18 while Jose Valentin was out, but he still was able to clear waivers. Although he could become a free agent, he’ll probably choose to report to Charlotte.
