Reds sent LHP Kent Emanuel outright to Triple-A Louisville.

He can refuse the assignment and become a free agent if he’d prefer. The 34-year-old had just signed with the Reds in early August after pitching with the Atlantic League’s High Point Rockers. Emanuel had a 2.30 ERA and 1.00 WHIP along with 53 strikeouts in 47 innings in the independent league.

Reds designated LHP Kent Emanuel for assignment.

Emanuel has been jettisoned from Cincinnati’s 40-man roster in a procedural move after allowing two runs over five innings during a spot start against the Cardinals in the opening game of Monday’s doubleheader. The 34-year-old lefty figures to pass through waivers unclaimed and elect free agency.

Making his first big-league start, Kent Emanuel surrendered two runs over five innings to take a loss to the Cardinals in the first game of Monday’s doubleheader.

It was a solid effort from the 34-year-old Emanuel, whose previous major league experience consisted of 10 relief appearances with the Astros in 2021 and 12 with the Marlins in 2024. He wasn’t designated the 27th man for the doubleheader — that was Zach McCambley — but he still might be optioned out now if the Reds want to activate Tony Santillan from the IL.

Reds selected the contract of LHP Kent Emanuel from Triple-A Louisville.

The 34-year-old Emanuel, who is starting the first game of Monday’s doubleheader against the Cardinals, is back in the majors for the first time since 2024 with the Marlins. He pitched in Mexico and an indy ball last year, and he joined the Reds organization out of indy ball last week, allowing one run over six innings in his lone start for Louisville.

Reds signed LHP Kent Emanuel to a minor league contract.

The 34-year-old southpaw hasn’t pitched in affiliated ball since the 2024 season. He had been pitching for the High Point Rockers in the independent Atlantic League where he posted a 2.30 ERA, 1.00 WHIP and a 53/9 K/BB ratio across 47 innings where he caught the attention of the Reds. He’ll add extra bullpen depth at Triple-A Louisville.

Fish on First reports that the Cristian Pache, Jose Devers and Kent Emanuel have elected minor-league free agency.

Pache was designated for assignment and outrighted off the Marlins’ roster just before the end of the year, and the former top prospect will be looking for yet another new home in the offseason. Devers has been in the Miami organization since the Giancarlo Stanton trade, but never was able to make a big impact. Emanuel should see interest for teams looking for pitching depth this spring.

Marlins designated LHP Kent Emanuel for assignment.

Emanuel has been a big part of the transactions page and pretty much nothing else. The left-hander is now on the waiver wire for teams who might have a clamoring for southpaw relief help.
