    Mets released OF Khalil Lee.
Lee remains under league investigation due to a lawsuit accusing him of assault last year in Syracuse, New York. The 24-year-old former prospect was batting just .185/.299/.323 with one homer and two steals across 77 plate appearances in 21 games this season for Triple-A Syracuse.

Mets sent OF Khalil Lee outright to Triple-A Syracuse.
Lee is currently under investigation by Major League Baseball due to a lawsuit accusing him of assault last year in Syracuse, New York. The 24-year-old outfielder has appeared in just 13 games for the Mets over the last two seasons. He’s no longer on New York’s 40-man roster and predictably went unclaimed on waivers last week after being designated for assignment.

Mets designated OF Khalil Lee for assignment.
The Mets needed to free up a spot on their 40-man roster after claiming reliever Sam Coonrod off of waivers from the division-rival Phillies. Lee is currently under investigation by Major League Baseball due to a lawsuit accusing him of assault last year in Syracuse, New York. It’s highly unlikely that any other club will claim him on waivers.

Khalil Lee is facing an arrest warrant in Syracuse, NY, after being accused of physically and verbally abusing a woman last year.
The charge is for criminal obstruction of breath. Lee is also being sued in federal court by the woman, who said she was Lee’s former girlfriend. The woman says that on May 7, 2022, Lee pulled her hair and choked her during an argument, leaving her with multiple bruises on her body. The 24-year-old Lee is a member of the Mets’ 40-man roster, having served brief stints in the majors with the club the last two seasons.

Mets optioned OF Khalil Lee to Triple-A Syracuse.
The 23-year-old outfielder got two at-bats in the two games he appeared in with the Mets this time around -- and managed to slug a three-run homer for his first big league home run while he was there. He’ll return to an everyday role at Triple-A but will be ready should injury strike at the big league level.

Mets recalled OF Khalil Lee from Triple-A Syracuse.
The expectation was that Lee would be joining the Mets to replace the injured Starling Marte (quad) who was heading to the injured list, but Marte is hopeful that he’ll be able to avoid the IL and return to action in a couple of days. Still, Lee will provide some extra outfield depth for a few games. The 23-year-old is just 1-for-18 with 13 strikeouts so far in his big league career.

Khalil Lee is en route to join the Mets in San Diego.
Another indication here that Starling Marte will indeed require a stint on the IL with that left quad issue that popped up on Tuesday night. Lee, a former high-ranking outfield prospect, has batted .221/.336/.393 with four home runs and eight stolen bases in 34 games this season at Triple-A Syracuse.

Mets optioned INF Travis Blankenhorn, OF Nick Plummer, C Patrick Mazeika, OF Khalil Lee, SS Mark Vientos, SS Ronny Mauricio and RHP Jose Butto to Triple-A Syracuse.
The first round of cuts from Mets’ spring training includes several prominent prospects and position players with big-league experience. Plummer, who was signed to a split-contract back in November, is arguably the highest-profile name of the grouping. The 25-year-old former first-round pick hit .280/.415/.479 with 15 homers and 13 steals across 477 plate appearances last year between Double-A and Triple-A in the Cardinals’ system. He should be up with the Mets at some point this season.

That was short. Lee was called up Wednesday with no game, and now is back in Triple-A. He could be back before the season ends as a bench option.

Lee will be in uniform on Wednesday night as one of the Mets’ September roster expansion selections. The 23-year-old highly-touted prospect has put up solid numbers in the upper minors, but struggled mightily in his first exposure to the majors earlier this season.
