Rueter

If Rueter is normally a part of your rotation, it should be safe to use him this week.

Rueter, out with shoulder inflammation, threw a full bullpen session yesterday. He should be okay to use this week.

One of the runs Rueter allowed had been considered unearned, but the change took away a Benito Santiago error and credited Mark Kotsay with a stolen base.

Rueter isn’t expected to miss any additional time.

No return date has yet been set for Rueter. Since it’s his second bout with this injury, the Giants will likely be cautious to make sure he’s available for the playoffs.

Adjust your roster accordingly.

The move clears a roster spot for Brian Cooper. Rueter will likely return as a reliever later this month.

He’s also upset with how the Giants have used him recently and things appear to be coming to a head. He will probably pitch again Saturday, but he’s pretty upset with the organization right now, and there’s no telling how much time he’ll see the rest of the way for them.

Rueter went 2-7 with a 5.95 ERA in 20 games this season. The Rangers or another team in desperate need of pitching could be interested in him once he clears waivers, but he doesn’t seem to have much left.
