Mariners acquired LHP Luis Gonzalez from the Rockies.
Although the trade was announced as a one-for-one, this is part of the Yorvit Torrealba-Marcos Carvajal deal. Gonzalez, a 22-year-old reliever who had a 3.18 ERA while spending most of last season in Double-A, was the second pick of the Rule 5 draft last week. He’ll be returned to the Dodgers if the Mariners elect not to keep him.

Rule 5 pick Luis Gonzalez surrendered four runs in an inning of relief today, raising his spring ERA to 7.27.
With George Sherill apparently guaranteed a spot, the Mariners would have to carry three lefties to fit Gonzalez on to the team. He’s walked nine in 8 2/3 innings, so it looks like he’d only occupy a mop-up role if he has a roster spot.

Mariners returned LHP Luis Gonzalez, a Rule 5 pick, to the Dodgers.
Gonzalez walked 12 while giving up 10 earned runs in 11 innings this spring. The Mariners are looking to avoid another last place finish this year, and that means not handicapping themselves with another Matt Thornton. It’s likely that Jake Woods will claim the last spot in the bullpen.

Luis Gonzalez homered and drove in a pair of runs in the Dodgers’ 9-1 win over the Padres on Friday.
Gonzalez added an RBI single and a stolen base in addition to his solo blast, which was his third of the season. The Dodgers totaled 13 hits in the contest, with every regular except Juan Pierre reaching base at least once.

Rockies selected LHP Luis E. Gonzalez from the Dodgers with the second pick in the Rule 5 draft.
After taking Luis A. Gonzalez two years ago. Gonzalez, 22, had a 3.18 ERA in 70 2/3 IP, most of the coming in Double-A, last season, but he had a 56/45 K/BB ratio. Mike Megrew would have been the better pick.

Luis Gonzalez, the reliever the Rockies picked up from the Dodgers in yesterday’s Rule 5 draft, could go to Seattle to complete the Yorvit Torrealba trade.
Gonzalez would compete for a spot in Seattle’s bullpen.
