Royals re-signed C Luke Maile to a minor league contract with an invitation to spring training.
Maile, 34, appeared in 25 games with the Royals during the 2025 season, slashing .244/.346/.356 with one homer and six RBI in 54 plate appearances. He’ll continue to function as extra catching depth for the Royals.

Carter Jensen is out of the Royals lineup for a third straight game Thursday against the Reds.
The Royals have Salvador Perez at first base tonight, but they just don’t trust Jensen behind the plate it seems. Luke Maile is catching for the second time since Jensen was called up. Jensen has yet to catch and has DH’d only three times in nine games since his arrival.

Salvador Perez (illness) remains out of the lineup for Tuesday’s game against the Rangers.
Luke Maile will take over behind the plate with Perez missing his second straight contest due to illness. The 35-year-old veteran backstop is day-to-day for the remaining two games of the series.

Salvador Perez has been scratched from the lineup for Monday’s series opener against the Rangers due to illness.
Perez is presumably day-to-day for the rest of the four-game series. Luke Maile will handle the catching duties in his absence.

Royals recalled C Luke Maile from Triple-A Omaha.
With Salvador Perez nursing a calf issue and limited to serving as the designated hitter on Friday, the Royals wanted to add some depth behind the plate. Maile should only be with the club for a couple of days and can be ignored for fantasy purposes.

Royals sent C Luke Maile outright to Triple-A Omaha.
Maile was designated for assignment and unsurprisingly went unclaimed on the waiver wire. The 34-year-old could elect free agency, but is just as likely to report to Omaha as organizational depth.

Royals designated C Luke Maile for assignment.
The Royals will go back to carrying two catchers for now. Maile went 3-for-8 with a homer and two walks in his 17 days with the club.

Royals selected the contract of C Luke Maile from Triple-A Omaha.
The 34-year-old backstop was off to a nice start at the Triple-A level, slashing .286/.434/.381 with one homer, 10 RBI and a 12/10 K/BB ratio over 53 plate appearances in his first 12 contests. It sounds like he’s there to provide some extra depth behind the dish while Salvador Perez is a bit banged up.

    Royals released C Luke Maile.
Maile exercised the opt-out clause in his contract after he was informed that he didn’t make the Royals’ Opening Day roster. The 34-year-old backstop hit .333 with one home run and three RBI in 10 games this spring. Maile hit just .178 with two home runs and eight RBI in 53 games with the Reds in 2024. He’ll look to catch on with another organization in need of catching depth.

Royals signed C Luke Maile to a minor league contract with an invitation to spring training.
The 34-year-old veteran backstop will be in big league camp to add some depth behind the plate. Maile was a disaster at the plate in his limited action with the Reds in 2024 — slashing a putrid .178/.268/.252 with just two homers and eight RBI.
