Royals and 1B Vinnie Pasquantino avoided arbitration by agreeing to a two-year, $11 million contract.
Pasquantino had filed for $4.5 million while the Royals countered with $4 million, but the two sides were able to work out a multi-year deal. Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic reports that the deal could reach $16 million with incentives. The 28-year-old hit 32 homers, drove in 113 runs while forging a .798 OPS in 2025, and he should again hit in the middle of the Kansas City lineup in 2026. Keep in mind that the Royals are moving their fences in, so the power numbers could be even better this summer.

ESPN’s Jeff Passan reports that the Royals are moving in most of the fences at Kauffman Stadium by 10 feet and lowering their height to create a “more neutral park for home runs.”
“We want a neutral ballpark where if you hit a ball well, it should be a home run,” said Royals general manager J.J. Picollo. According to Stacast’s Park Factors, Kauffman Stadium ranked 6th in baseball as an offensive park. However, this ranking was largely due to its having the second-largest outfield in baseball, which promotes doubles and triples. It ranked 25th in baseball as a home run park, which is the fourth-lowest mark of any stadium that has been in use for at least the last three seasons. The team will keep centerfield at 410 feet, but will shorten the power alleys from 389 feet to 379 feet, and “the fences will continue on that path, 9 to 10 feet shorter, nearly all the way to the corners.” This will not only help established power hitters like Bobby Witt Jr., Vinnie Pasquantino, and Salvador Perez hit more home runs, but should be a nice boost for young players with plus power like Jac Caglianone and Carter Jensen. However, batting average hitters with fringe power, like Isaac Collins and Jonathan India, may see a slight regression with a smaller outfield for extra base hits to fall in.

Vinnie Pasquantino went 1-for-2, drew two walks and swatted his 31st home run of the season on Saturday night as the Royals eked out a one-run victory over the Blue Jays.
The 27-year-old slugger went back-to-back with Bobby Witt Jr. off of Shane Bieber in the fourth inning, with Pasquantino’s 397-foot (99.2 mph EV) solo shot proving to be the difference in the ballgame. After reaching base safely in three of his four plate appearances on Saturday, he’s now hitting .271/.330/.483 with 31 long balls and 107 RBI on the season.

Vinnie Pasquantino went 1-for-3 and blasted his 30th home run of the season on Thursday night, accounting for all of the Royals’ offense in a loss to the Guardians.
The 27-year-old slugger pulverized an 0-2 fastball from Gavin Williams for a 398-foot (101.0 mph EV) two-run blast in the opening inning to give the Royals an early lead. Unfortunately, that would be the only time they would score. It’s the first time in his career that Pasquantino has reached 30 home runs in a season. He’s now slashing .262/.323/.470 with 30 long balls and 102 RBI in 613 plate appearances on the year.

The 27-year-old slugger gave the Royals an early 1-0 edge with his sacrifice fly off of Mitch Farris in the third inning. That would wind up being the extent of their offense in the ballgame. Vinnie Pasquantino continued his power barrage in Sunday’s 10-8 victory over the Tigers, going 2-for-5 with a homer and two RBI.
Pasquantino clobbered a 429-foot (106.6 mph EV) two-run blast off of Jack Flaherty during the Royals’ six-run uprising in the third inning. He also singled in the fifth. The 27-year-old slugger has now crushed nine home runs in his last 13 ballgames. On the season, he’s slashing .264/.324/.480 with 28 homers, 92 RBI and one stolen base in 549 plate appearances.

Vinnie Pasquantino crushed a two-run homer in the ninth inning on Friday, but it wasn’t enough to power the Royals past the Tigers.
The 27-year-old slugger tagged Tigers’ right-hander Will Vest for his two-out, 411-foot (106.1 mph EV) two-run shot that pulled the Royals to within two runs at 7-5. That would be the extent of their offense. Pasquantino matched a Royals’ franchise record by homering in his fifth consecutive game and he has a league-leading 33 RBI since the All-Star break. On the season, he’s now hitting .263/.324/.475 with 27 long balls and 89 RBI.

Vinnie Pasquantino went 2-for-3 with a three-run home run and two walks on Wednesday against the Rangers.
Pasquantino is on a heater. This is the first time in his career where he’s homered in three straight games and he has seven total long balls in August. Sadly, his three-run shot in this one would be the only runs his Royals would score. Nevertheless, he’s approaching an .800 OPS on the season and is well past his former career-high with 25 homers.
