Marlon Anderson has a career-best 10-game hitting streak going, and is tied with Rey Ordonez for the club lead in RBI with 16.
Marlon Anderson? Rey Ordonez? If by some strange fate you find yourself owning either of these players, do something now while their value is as high as it’s gonna get.

A source told the St. Louis Post-Dispatch that the Cardinals have placed Marlon Anderson and Chris Widger on waivers.
It looks like Cody McKay could beat out Widger to become Mike Matheny’s backup. If Anderson is out of a job, the Cardinals could keep Hector Luna on the roster, at least until Tony Womack is ready to play.

Manager Tony La Russa, appreciative of the pinch-hitting job Marlon Anderson has done so far, plans to give Anderson a start tonight.
“I’m going to start him against (Roger) Clemens although I don’t think that’s a really good favor,” La Russa said. Anderson is 3-for-5 as a pinch-hitter so far.

The St. Petersburg Times notes that the Cubs and other teams continue to express interest in Marlon Anderson.
Chicago is still the most likely destination. Between Tony Womack and Anderson, it appears the Cubs want speed and positional versatility from the player they acquire.

There was still no word on Marlon Anderson’s appeal of his three-game suspension, and may not be until Monday.
Anderson should continue to play through the weekend, but you may want to bench him next week.

The Cardinals are attempting to decide between Marlon Anderson, Bo Hart, and Brent Butler for their starting second base job.
Hart is considered stronger defensively, while Anderson offers speed and experience as a leadoff hitter, even though his numbers aren’t exceptional (.316 career OBP). Butler is comfortable at every infield position and might win a utility job. Anderson, a lefty, has an advantage over Hart since Jim Edmonds is the only other left-handed regular in the lineup. There are bound to be better options in NL-only leagues than going after the winner here.

Manager Tony La Russa said Marlon Anderson would get at least two games at second base this week.
Anderson has seen his playing time cut since Larry Walker came to St. Louis.

Marlon Anderson is making his first career start in the outfield tonight.
The Rays used Anderson as a utility player this spring, but this is the first time this season he’s played a position other than second. Antonio Perez is starting at second tonight. Anderson is filling in for the suspended Carl Crawford in left.

Marlon Anderson hit a two-run homer off John Smoltz in the Nationals’ victory on Wednesday.
The homer was his second of the year. Anderson is a very weak option as a starting outfielder, but he’s been getting some time in right fielf with Jose Guillen out. He’ll head back to the bench when Guillen returns.
