Guerrier was supposed to compete for a rotation spot, but he’s been limited by shoulder problems. He, Gonzalez, Alvarez and Davis are all candidates to spend time in the majors this year.

Matt Guerrier pitched four scoreless innings in relief of Brad Radke tonight as the Twins topped the White Sox 9-4 in 16 innings.

Guerrier was one of the five relievers that combined to hold the White Sox without a run for 7 1/3 innings. Guerrier hasn’t allowed a run in 18 1/3 innings since the All-Star break, dropping his ERA to 2.49.

This will be a more significant loss for the Twins than most realize. While Guerrier had struggled some lately, he had a 3.34 ERA in a team-high 32 1/3 innings of relief this season. Kyle Lohse will be called up to replace him.
