Paul Hoover will take over as Miguel Olivo’s backup until Treanor returns.

Treanor said he’ll be ready to return from the disabled list when eligible next week.

Treanor’s homer came in his 267th at-bat. The 30-year-old is a career .216 hitter.

Treanor will resume his role as Miguel Olivo’s backup and Paul Hoover will be returned to Triple-A Albuquerque.

Treanor, who missed the minimum 15 days with a shoulder strain, has no fantasy value while acting as Miguel Olivo’s backup.

Treanor will serve as a pinch-hitter and emergency third catcher in Texas’ round-one matchup with the Rays. He batted .214/.338/.291 in 72 regular season games.

The Rangers used Treanor as their third catcher during the ALDS, but Yorvit Torrealba is now expected to serve as the primary backup to the hot-hitting Mike Napoli. Tateyama will join an eight-man bullpen after posting a 4.50 ERA over 44 innings during the regular season.

It was just his sixth start of the season, as Treanor’s playing time has been limited with A.J. Ellis faring well. The 36-year-old career backup won’t make any noise in fantasy even if injury forces him into a bigger role.

Treanor batted just .214/.338/.291 in 242 plate appearances this year between the Royals and Rangers, but he’s always been a steady defender. The 35-year-old would give Los Angeles better catching depth behind A.J. Ellis and rookie Tim Federowicz.

The expectation is that the veteran catcher will soon ink a one-year deal worth about $1 million. Treanor, 35, batted just .214/.338/.291 over 242 plate appearances this year, but he’s a sound defender and a decent backup.
