Moore was designated for assignment by the Yankees on Thursday, and the right-handed hurler went unclaimed. He’ll report back to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre as a depth option.

The 25-year-old recently was on the injured list with a knee injury but was activated a couple weeks ago. He hasn’t pitched in the majors this season, but did last season with the Phillies where he pitched 3 1/3 innings and allowed seven earned runs on five hits.

Moore has completed his rehabilitation from a right knee injury and will remain stationed in the upper minors as extra organizational relief depth.

Moore was claimed off waivers from the Phillies back in mid-February and is still dealing with a pre-existing knee issue. There is no timetable for his return yet.

Moore provides the Yankees with another potential relief arm after being removed from Philadelphia’s 40-man roster earlier this week. The 25-year-old righty made three underwhelming relief appearances this past season for the Phillies, but put up stellar numbers last year in the minor leagues.

The Phillies made their signing of Spencer Turnbull official on Wednesday, but to do so they needed to free up a spot on their 40-man roster and Moore was unfortunately the odd-man out this time around. The 25-year-old was disastrous in his limited action with the Phillies in 2023, posting an 18.90 ERA, 3.00 WHIP and a 2/5 K/BB ratio over 3 1/3 innings.

Moore struggled yet again in Saturday’s loss to the Reds, giving up three runs on three hits in his lone inning of work. The 24-year-old hurler sports a horrifying 18.90 ERA and 3.00 WHIP across his first 3 1/3 innings on the season. A corresponding move will be announced prior to Sunday’s ballgame.

Moore looked extremely impressive in spring training, allowing just one run (zero earned) with an 11/1 K/BB ratio across 9 1/3 innings (nine appearances) and will get a shot in the Phillies’ overworked bullpen. The 24-year-old righty was acquired last March from the White Sox in exchange for Adam Haseley and will be making his big league debut when he gets into a game.

The 24-year-old righty, who was acquired last March from the White Sox in exchange for Adam Haseley, figures to get a shot for Philadelphia at some point this year in a relief role.

With Andrew Vaughn unlikely for Opening Day, the White Sox have acquired a temporary replacement in right field, and the Phillies managed to clear out a 40-man roster spot in the process. Haseley was selected eighth overall in the 2017 MLB Draft and holds a pedestrian .264/.322/.373 triple-slash line with five homers and four steals across 355 major-league plate appearances since 2019. Todd Zolecki of MLB.com adds that the Phillies will receive right-handed pitching prospect McKinley Moore in the deal.
