Yankees reassigned outfielder Michael Hermosillo to minor league camp.
Harrison Bader’s injury wasn’t enough to get Hermosillo a spot. The former Angel and Cub was 3-for-22 in spring games.

Yankees signed OF Michael Hermosillo to a minor league contract.
The deal doesn’t appear to include an invitation to spring training. Hermosillo provides the Yankees with some excellent organizational outfield depth heading into the 2023 season. The 27-year-old outfielder, who has 103 games of big-league experience under his belt, struggled in 31 games last season for the Cubs. He’ll aim to revive his career at Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre this upcoming season.

Michael Hermosillo has elected free agency.
The 27-year-old outfielder was sent outright to Triple-A Iowa at the end of September. He hit a paltry .115/.250/.148 in 78 plate appearances with the Cubs during the 2022 campaign. It’s likely that Hermosillo will have to settle for a minor league contract with an invitation to spring training this winter.

Cubs sent OF Michael Hermosillo outright to Triple-A Iowa.
The 27-year-old outfielder had been designated for assignment earlier in the week, but he passed through waivers unclaimed and will continue to function as extra depth for the Cubs at Triple-A. Hermosillo slashed a paltry .115/.250/.148 in 78 plate appearances at the big league level this season.

Michael Hermosillo went 2-for-4 with a run scored and an RBI as the Cubs eked out a one-run victory over the Pirates on Thursday evening in Pittsburgh.
The 27-year-old outfielder smacked a two-out single off of Mitch Keller in the second inning, then dashed around to score on Christopher Morel’s two-run double. He then plated a run of his own with an RBI single off of David Bednar in the seventh -- extending the Cubs lead to 3-1. With the two-hit attack, he’s now hitting .127/.273/.164 with no homers and four RBI in 67 plate appearances on the year.

Nelson Velázquez has been scratched from the Cubs’ lineup Friday because he’s under the weather.
It sounds like a non-COVID-19-related illness, so we’ll consider him day-to-day. Michael Hermosillo has taken Velázquez’s spot in the lineup.

Cubs activated OF Michael Hermosillo from the 60-day injured list.
Finally recovered from the severe left quad strain that originally sent him to the IL back in May, Hermosillo could get a handful of starts in the Cubs’ outfield as they play out the string here in 2022. The 27-year-old is just a .170/.272/.303 career hitter in 89 total major league games.

Michael Hermosillo (quad) went 3-for-5 with a triple and a pair of doubles on Sunday in a minor league rehab game for Triple-A Iowa.
Hermosillo continues to work his way back from a left quad strain that has kept him sidelined since early May. It doesn’t seem like he’s too far off from rejoining the Cubs as a reserve outfielder.

Michael Hermosillo (quad) went 0-for-2 with an RBI on Friday in a minor league rehab game for Triple-A Iowa.
Hermosillo has been playing at Triple-A Iowa for a few weeks as he continues to work his way back from a left quad strain. It seems highly likely that he’ll return to the Cubs’ lineup card in a bench role next week once rosters expand.
