Mickey Moniak went 2-for-4 and scored the Rockies’ lone run in Thursday night’s loss to the Tigers.
The Rockies actually got on the board first in the nightcap of Thursday’s doubleheader, as Moniak smacked a one-out single off of Keider Montero in the third inning, advanced to third on a single by Kyle Farmer and scored on a ground ball off the bat of Owen Miller. That would wind up being the extent of their offense in the game though. With his two-hit night, the 26-year-old outfielder is now slashing .222/.287/.424 with three homers, nine RBI and one stolen base in his first 107 plate appearances.

Mickey Moniak smacked a two-run triple in the fourth inning on Sunday night, propelling the Rockies to a 3-1 victory over the Nationals in the nightcap of their doubleheader.
Moniak turned a 1-0 deficit into a 2-1 advantage with a two-out, two-run triple off of right-hander Brad Lord in the fourth inning. That was the 26-year-old outfielder’s only hit in five at-bats on the evening, but proved to be the difference in the ballgame. On the season, he’s now slashing .231/.310/.558 with three homers and nine RBI through his first 58 plate appearances.

Mickey Moniak went 2-for-3 with a home run and four RBI against the Nationals on Saturday.
Moniak went yard for the second straight game, this time taking MacKenzie Gore deep for a two-run shot to put the Rockies on the board in the second inning. He was later hit by a pitch in the seventh and scored on a triple by Sean Bouchard. He walked again in the same inning and scored in an eight-run frame for Colorado. Moniak then tripled in the ninth in a comeback attempt to plate a run with the Rockies down two. The 26-year-old outfielder is hitting .256/.347/.605 with three homers and ten runs scored across 49 plate appearances.

Brenton Doyle (quad) remains out of the lineup for Wednesday’s series finale against the Dodgers.
This is getting strange. Doyle indicated Tuesday night that his left quad is feeling better and won’t require a trip to the injured list, but he’s going to sit out his sixth consecutive game on Wednesday night. It’ll be Mickey Moniak in center field once again in his absence. The decision gives him a couple extra days of rest ahead of Friday’s series opener against the Nationals, but it’s definitely a frustrating development for fantasy managers.

Brenton Doyle (quad) remains absent from the lineup for Sunday’s series finale against the Padres.
Doyle will miss his third straight contest on Sunday afternoon as he continues to deal with ongoing left quad soreness. It’ll be Ezequiel Tovar in the leadoff spot and Mickey Moniak patrolling center field. He should still be considered day-to-day for now. The 26-year-old fantasy stalwart doesn’t appear in jeopardy of landing on the injured list yet, but it’s a situation fantasy managers should monitor closely in the coming days.

Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic reports that the Rockies plan to promote top outfield prospect Zac Veen from Triple-A Albuquerque on Monday.
The 23-year-old outfielder was off to a sizzling start at Triple-A, hitting .387 (12-for-31) with a homer, eight RBI and a stolen base through his first eight games. Rosenthal notes that he’s expected to play in the corner outfield spots for the Rockies, which could cut into the playing time of Nick Martini and Mickey Moniak. Jordan Beck is expected to be optioned to Triple-A in a corresponding move. The Rockies aren’t promoting Veen to sit on the bench, so he’s immediately worthy of an addition in any fantasy leagues where he may be available.

Mickey Moniak will hit ninth and play left field against the Phillies on Wednesday.
A little bit of irony that Moniak will make his first start of the 2025 season against the team that made him the first-overall selection back in 2016. Moniak is still just 26, but he hasn’t shown anything that suggest there’s fantasy potential in his left-handed bat; even playing in a home park like Coors Field. Jordan Beck gets the day off against Zack Wheeler and the Phillies.

Mickey Moniak is not in the starting lineup for Friday’s game against the Rays.
Moniak just signed Thursday, so it’s not a huge surprise the 26-year-old doesn’t get a starting nod, and that’s before considering how poorly he’s played at the highest level. Jordan Beck is the starting left fielder against Ryan Pepiot and the Rays.

Rockies signed OF Mickey Moniak to a one-year contract.
Moniak will earn $1.25 million. His competition for corner outfield at-bats is Jordan Beck, Nick Martini and Sean Bouchard, so there’s a good chance he’ll wind up getting a long look against right-handers.

MLB.com’s Mark Feinsand reports the Rockies are signing Mickey Moniak to a one-year, $1.25 million contract.
Colorado’s front office continues to outperform our wildest expectations with yet another truly confounding roster decision. It’s an ominous development for fantasy managers hoping to see top prospects Jordan Beck and Zac Veen in prominent roles this season since Moniak’s presence only adds to the outfield logjam. It’s an interesting landing spot for Moniak to potentially revive his career, but he’s coming off a three-year stretch with the Angels where he posted a lackluster .709 OPS. The 26-year-old former first-overall pick from the 2016 MLB Draft was released earlier this week by Los Angeles, but didn’t take long to find a new home. He stands to benefit from Coors Field’s hitter-friendly environment, but we’re not anticipating any sort of significant fantasy impact based on his recent track record.
