The Phillies, Blue Jays, and Rockies have been among the teams who have had players and staff test positive for the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) recently. You can add the Mariners to the list.

Shannon Drayer of 710 AM KIRO in Seattle reports that Mariners GM Jerry DiPoto said a “few” members of the team tested positive for COVID-19. DiPoto originally said “more than one” player tested positive. Some were asymptomatic.

These stories will become more and more common as players start to congregate with each other. The hope is that the players, coaches, staff, and other personnel adhere to hygiene guidelines to minimize the spread as much as possible.
