In a span of about 10 minutes the Angels landed two outfielders from two different teams: David Murphy from the Indians, as first reported by the Los Angeles Times’ Mike DiGiovanna, and David DeJesus from the Rays, as announced on the Tampa Bay Rays’ official Twitter account.
Eric Stamets, a 23-year-old shortstop, is going to Cleveland for Murphy. And 20-year-old right-hander Eduar Lopez is going to Tampa Bay for DeJesus. Neither can be considered a top-level prospect.
Murphy will presumably join Shane Victorino in a left-field platoon and DeJesus will likely slide into a part-time role at DH. Some solid incremental upgrades by Angels GM Bill Stoneman.
