According to Mike DiGiovanna of the Los Angeles Times, the Angels have released veteran reliever Matt Lindstrom.

Lindstrom, who was in camp this spring on a minor league contract, posted an ugly 11.12 ERA and 5/4 K/BB ratio over 5 2/3 innings during Cactus League action. The Angels were required to make a decision by Tuesday about whether he would be added to the 40-man roster.

Lindstrom, 35, missed time with an ankle injury last year while struggling to the tune of a 5.03 ERA with 18 strikeouts and 12 walks over 34 innings. While he’s now free to look for an opportunity elsewhere, he’s no lock to find a spot in a major league bullpen.
