MLB.com’s Brian McTaggart reports that the Astros have tabbed Dallas Keuchel and Charlie Marton for Games 3 and 4 of the ALCS, respectively. That comes as no surprise but is in stark contrast to the Red Sox, who have not announced their upcoming starters, presumably because all hands will be on deck for Game 2.
Keuchel, 30, made his only postseason start thus far in Game 3 of the ALDS against the Indians. He lasted five innings, yielding a pair of runs on four hits and a walk with two strikeouts. Keuchel had a rough regular season, posting the lowest strikeout rate of his career at 17.5 percent. He had been at 20.5 percent or higher in his previous three seasons.
Morton, 34, has continued a career reinaissance. He posted career-bests with 15 wins and a 3.13 ERA across 30 starts during the regular season. Game 4 will mark his first start of the 2018 postseason.
