Bay has no time frame for a deal

All of the cool kids are setting arbitrary deadlines for signing them, but not Jason Bay. Maybe it’s because he’s a nice, polite Canadian-American. Maybe it’s because unlike Roy Halladay he actually, you know, doesn’t have a job right now so he can’t exactly impose any kind of deadline. Either way, according to ESPN Boston’s Gordon Edes, Bay is keeping all of his options open, he has no time frame for a deal to happen and the Red Sox still call him their “prime target.”

I still have to think that the draft pick politics of it all counsel the Red Sox to look harder at Matt Holliday, but no one associated with the Sox seems willing to admit that right now, even on an anonymous basis.
