Brian Cashman says Reggie Jackson wasn’t banned from Yankees, but was asked to stay away

Brian Cashman said yesterday that contrary to reports Reggie Jackson wasn’t “banned” from being involved with the Yankees following his comments about Alex Rodriguez and performance-enhancing drugs.

However, the general manager did admit that the team asked Jackson to stay away during their first half-ending road trip to Boston to avoid distractions.

So, more like “asked nicely to go away for a while” instead of “banned.”

“I’d rather get it out of the way because as far as I’m concerned, it’s not a big deal anymore,” Cashman told Marc Carig of the Newark Star Ledger. “If he’s not banned, there is no story.”
