Cameron Maybin has been one of the rare bright spots for the Padres, but the center fielder injured his wrist while taking batting practice over the weekend and will undergo an MRI exam today.

Previously the Padres insisted that an MRI wasn’t necessary, but Maybin has missed three straight games and told Bill Center of the San Diego Union Tribune that he hopes the exam “gives me a little peace of mind.”

Maybin’s raw numbers aren’t spectacular, but much of that is due to calling the majors’ most pitcher-friendly ballpark home. He’s hitting .311 with an .841 OPS on the road compared to just .235 with a .614 OPS at Petco Park. His adjusted OPS+ is 108, which hasn’t been topped by a Padres outfielder since Brian Giles in 2007 and 2008, and Maybin has also stolen 32 bases while being caught just five times.
