Carlos Gomez injured his wrist Sunday and the Brewers center fielder has been diagnosed with a sprain, which mean he’ll sit out at least another week.
It’s particularly rough timing, as Milwaukee hosts a four-game series with St. Louis beginning Thursday.
Gomez has followed up a breakout 2013 season with nearly identical numbers, hitting .282 with 21 homers, 29 steals, and an .827 OPS compared to .284 with 24 homers, 40 steals, and an .843 OPS last year. In his absence the Brewers figure to use Gerardo Parra in center field after acquiring him from the Diamondbacks at the trade deadline.
