There was a report on Monday that indicated that Danny Valencia’s time with the Athletics would soon come to an end, but it turns out he’s expected to stick with the team until the end of the regular season, Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

Valencia, 31, has had a productive season, batting .291/.347/.461 with 16 home runs and 48 RBI in 450 plate appearances. He will, however, be going into his third and final year of arbitration eligibility after earning $3.15 million this season -- a raise the small-market Athletics likely aren’t too keen on covering.

Then there was that whole snafu with teammate Billy Butler during which Valencia ended up giving Butler a concussion. Butler was released on Sunday.
