Dustin McGowan has had it rough over the last six years. The right-hander has undergone surgery four times since then, three times on his right shoulder and once on his knee. After a long road back to the big leagues, McGowan can go home tonight happy, as he has earned a win for the first time since June 22, 2008.
McGowan, 32, shut the Orioles out over 6 1/3 innings, allowing five hits and walking one while striking out two. It’s a marked improvement over his first start of the season in which he allowed four runs in 2 2/3 innings. The Blue Jays scored twice for him in the fourth inning and the duo of Brett Cecil and Sergio Santos held the fort for the 2-0 victory.
