Finally! Brewers and Randy Wolf ink 3-year deal

Randy Wolf has had a three-year offer on the table from the Brewers for at least 48 hours and after unsuccessfully shopping around for something better the free agent left-hander has finally decided to sign with Milwaukee. He’ll reportedly get $29.75 million over three years and the deal also includes a fourth-year team option for 2013. He’s a step above fellow free agent starters like Carl Pavano and Brad Penny, but given that they both managed only one-year deals in the $7 million range Wolf has done very well to get $10 million per season for at least three years. Wolf has remained healthy over the past two seasons while going 23-19 with a 3.74 ERA and 322/129 K/BB ratio in 405 innings, but failed to throw even 150 innings in any of the previous four seasons because of all sorts of injuries and is already 33 years old. Milwaukee needed the rotation help and Wolf is a good fit, but the Brewers are definitely paying a premium.
