Giants second baseman Joe Panik had appeared in just 15 games since the All-Star break due to a long-lingering lower back injury, and he has now officially been shut down for the remainder of the 2015 season.
Alex Pavlovic of CSNBayArea.com reports that Panik has been placed on the 60-day disabled list, with outfielder Mac Williamson and catcher Trevor Brown joining the Giants from Triple-A Sacramento on Wednesday.
The end was kind of rough but Panik had a tremendous sophomore season with the Giants overall, slashing .312/.378/.455 with 59 runs scored in 100 games.
