Terry Collins is under contract for 2015, but this is New York and there are always people wondering when the manager will be fired. Jon Heyman reports that, for the Mets, it’s not likely to be this offseason: Terry Collins is likely to be brought back for a fifth season as Mets manager in 2015. It’s unclear if they’ll extend him or have him come back as a lame duck.
Makes sense to me. The Mets aren’t great but they aren’t playing below their talent level. They have improved slowly but steadily. The young players have generally developed well. Most importantly, Collins has not stepped on any land mines and the Mets clubhouse has been, for the most part, pretty drama free. That’s a huge accomplishment in Queens.
