John Grabow, who signed a minor-league contract with the Dodgers in mid-December, has opted out of the deal to become a free agent again.

Grabow threw six innings with a 0.00 ERA and 7/1 K/BB ratio this spring, but the Dodgers informed the 33-year-old reliever that they didn’t plan to keep a second left-hander in the bullpen alongside Scott Elbert.

Grabow made $4.8 million last season as part of a bloated multi-year contract from the Cubs, but posted a 4.76 ERA and 38/28 K/BB ratio in 62 innings and served up nine homers. He also had a 7.36 ERA in limited action in 2010.
